In addition, the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is poised to be the next Abbott World Marathon Majors – elevating an already renowned event to an equal status with London, Berlin, New York, Chicago and Tokyo. As an official candidate race, Cape Town could achieve the coveted major status in as little as three years. Of importance, if you complete the Cape Town Marathon before 2025, you will be guaranteed an entry to the event once it secures its status as an Abbott World Marathon Majors. COMING SOON…ANTARCTIC & ARTIC POLAR RACES
Looking to finish your 7th continent or to check off an unforgettable, bucket-list marathon experience? Look no further than the Antarctic Polar Race. Located in interior Antarctica, this event is set to host the first ever Antarctica Athletics Federation Championships. Competitors meet in Cape Town and are flown by specialist jet to a spectacular race location on the frozen continent. Its sister event, the Arctic Polar Race, takes place at the opposite end of the earth at the Geographic North Pole. You can join the exclusive Polar Marathon Club by running in both locations.
