susan alibrandi dwyer
marathon & triathlete coach

Susan thrives on the challenge of setting a goal, devising a plan, pushing limits and making it happen. A finisher of numerous marathons and IRONMANs, she believes the real success and excitement occurs along the journey, and not in just crossing the finish line.

Susan serves as a coach on a large Boston charity run team helping hundreds of both new and experienced runners train and prepare for the World Marathon Majors, and in her own personal training business coaches individual athletes to set and achieve their desired goals. She recognizes there is nothing more rewarding than witnessing the increased confidence and sense of accomplishment of those she coaches.

She is continually trying to further educate herself in health and fitness, and is constantly incorporating healthy changes for herself and her family in hopes her healthy behavior inspires healthy behavior. As a wife and mother of two daughters, Susan understands the stresses of balancing life, family and training.

Whether your fitness quest is running or triathlon, Susan can guide you towards your destination.

PILAR ARTHUR-SNEAD
Transformation and Endurance Coach

Pilar Arthur-Snead started running in 2015. She says: “Running has changed my life completely. I was in this phase where I found myself saying ‘I can’t’ a lot. Truly, I was limited by fear.  I didn’t really want ‘I can’t’ to be my mantra for the rest of my life, so at the age of 43, I decided to run a 5k. I haven’t looked back! I went from couch to coach in just three years!”

After her first 5k, and getting across that finish line, that feeling of accomplishment she was like nothing she had ever experienced. That was the hook! What Coach Pilar found through running was a space where all things seem possible.

In 2016, she ran her first half marathon, just one year after her first 5k. And, to date, she has run numerous events from 5k’s to half marathons, and (very soon) ultramarathons.

Then, in 2018, she became an RRCA Certified Coach (Level 1) with the idea to challenge and inspire every runner to achieve their wildest dreams and step into possibility.

She believes that fitness is for every BODY, no matter their age, size, shape, gender, current ability or physical limitation. The only thing a runner needs is a commitment to the training process and the motivation to be one’s best self. She seeks to empower and inspire highly motivated individuals, change seekers, to move their bodies and strengthen their minds. Whether you are looking to run your first 5k or step up your game to a marathon and beyond, Pilar will be your biggest cheerleader and fan helping you along the way!

CHRIS LAIRD

ENDURANCE COACH, EXERCISE SCIENTIST

After Chris finished a Bachelor of Business he took some time off and travelled in order to discover his true passion. On return he completed a Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sport Science) at the University of Sydney, Australia. Chris has been participating in endurance events for the past 20 years and coaching others for over 15.

Growing up in Australia Chris was a competitive swimmer and played basketball but his real love was rugby. With the build of an endurance athlete this was always going to be a problem and eventually lower limb injuries forced him to quit. During his rehabilitation a prominent physical therapist who treated all the professional teams in the city told Chris to take up a sport that doesn’t involve running as biomechanically he’d never be able to run injury free. Chris’s response was to get a new physical therapist and take up triathlons. However, it wasn’t that simple. This was the beginning of a three-year process of finding medical professionals with alternate views, learning as much as possible and over two years of daily work to change his running technique and strengthen many lower limb and intrinsic foot muscles.

Over the years Chris has held various coaching roles helping hundreds of athletes on the three continents he has lived. From beginners training for their first 5K or Sprint Triathlon, to ultras, Ironman, multi day stage racing, and athletes attempting to turn pro. Chris has worked with a vast array of individuals. He also has experience training clients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Diabetes, and Obesity.

Now based in Colorado, he prefers to limit the number of athletes he works with to around a dozen in order to ensure personalized training and coaching and a true connection with each of his athletes. Having raced all distances of Triathlon multiple times, completed single and multi-day bike events and run all distances up to and including 50 miles, Chris is currently passionate about his trail running and is looking towards a tough 100 miler in the Colorado mountains.

On top of his degree, Chris has completed courses in: Run technique; swim technique; triathlon coaching; gait analysis; metabolic efficiency; Exercise testing and prescription; Musculoskeletal assessment; sport psychology; strength and conditioning; personal training; acute injury assessment and treatment.
